PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve image browsing and protection in a well balanced manner. SOLUTION: One of multiple modes is selected and set, photographing is performed in accordance with the set mode, and image data is captured. The captured image data is recorded in association with the mode which is set during photographing. The recorded image data is played back and displayed. When processing the displayed image data, it is determined whether a simple playback mode is set and if the simple mode is set, it is further determined whether the image data to be processed are photographed under a simple photography mode. When it is determined that the image data to be processed are not photographed under the simple photography mode, the image data is held without applying any processing thereto (S1016). In deletion processing, the mode of a camera is compared with a mode under which a deletion target was photographed (S1012, S1013).
