PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for controlling a plating thickness, the apparatus capable of controlling the plating thickness of a fused metal to be uniform in a width direction of a steel strip even when warpage is caused in the width direction of the strip. SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 for controlling the plating thickness is disposed in facilities 13 for manufacturing plated steel sheets for plating a steel strip 11 with a fused metal 12 and includes wiping nozzles 14, 15. The wiping nozzle 14, 15 is an integrated body having a larger width than the width of the steel strip 11; partition plates 17 that segment from the base end to the front part of the tip end of the chamber 16 in the width direction of the wiping nozzle 14, 15 is arranged in the chamber 16 of the wiping nozzle 14, 15 to form a plurality of small chambers 18; and each chamber 18 is connected to a gas pipe 20 including a pressure regulating valve 19. The distance X between the tip end face of the partition plate 17 to the steel strip 11 is 10 mm or more and 200 mm or less; and the thickness of the partition plate 17 is from 0.05 mm or more and 1 mm or less.
