PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform sufficient image forming, even if a transfer material is held and the transfer material is sucked and transported. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus 1 includes an intermediate transfer belt 8 for carrying an image, a secondary transfer roller 14, that has a gripper 18 for holding the transfer material 33 arranged in a first direction and rotates in a second direction orthogonal or substantially orthogonal to the first direction and transfers the toner image carried by the intermediate transfer belt 8 to the transfer material 33; a second air flow generating device 43 having a guide surface 43a<SB>1</SB>for guiding the transfer material 33 to which the toner image is transferred and a suction member 43a for sucking the transfer material 33 via air circulation holes 43c arranged in the guide surface 43a<SB>1</SB>; and a fixing section 46 for fixing the transfer material 33 guided by the second air flow generating device 43. Guide surfaces 43c<SB>2</SB>, corresponding to the air circulation holes different from the guide surface 43a<SB>1</SB>, are disposed on the fixing section side of the moving direction of the transfer material 33 of the air circulation holes 43c.
