PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method and communication system, for enabling a cellular phone to use an attended transfer function of a PBX (Private Branch Exchange). SOLUTION: The communication system 1 detects a hold number transmitted from a cellular phone 11 and converts the hold prefix to a hold signal by a first hold signal preparing part 14 arranged between a portable NW network 10 and an IP router network 30 or a second hold signal preparing part 42 arranged between the IP router network 30 and a PBX 50. When a first terminal is a private telephone 51 and a second terminal is a private telephone 52, the second hold signal preparing part 42 arranged between the IP router network 30 and the PBX 50 detects the hold prefix, converts it into a hold signal, and transmits the hold signal to the PBX 50.
