Method for manufacturing light components from foamed plastic

The method involves plasticizing a plastic material i.e. polymer, and adding a foaming agent to the plastic material. Mass of the plastic material is brought into a mold, where volumetric weight of the plastic material is matched to an inner volume of the mold such that the inner volume of the mold corresponds to volumetric weight of a light-weight component. The plastic material is foamed by expansion of the foaming agent under mold constraint. The light-weight component is demolded from the mold. An intermediate product is plasticized in a tool by a heating process. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a preform for producing light-weight components (2) a granulate material for manufacturing light-weight components.
