Class 142(2) Chenille weft is inserted in an Axminster carpet loom by a needle 9 having a slotted head. the slot being so shaped that the needle will engage and insert either the chenille weft or the weft used in the body of the carpet. Chenille weft b and other weft a pass through guides in a selector arm 14 rocked about a pivot 18 to present the appropriate weft to the needle. A positioning arm 33 having a notch 47 engages the selected weft upon movement of a rod 36 and draws the weft across the path of the needle. The needle is recessed at 60 to permit a selvedge shuttle to be passed through each inserted weft loop. U.S.A. Specification 1,964,692 is referred to.
