[Also in Group XXVIII] In connecting synthetic plastic pipes by a welded sleeve joint, the weld extends between the opposing surfaces of the sleeve and the pipe ends and over the end faces of the pipe ends. In Fig. 4, welds 4, 5 connect a sleeve 7 to pipe ends 6; in Fig. 5, the ends of a sleeve are tapered at 9 and the end faces 11 of the pipe ends 10 are conical; in Fig. 6, the pipe ends 15 are enlarged and the sleeve 12 is internal; in Fig. 7, the internal sleeve 13 is tapered at 18 and the end faces 20 of the pipe ends 19 are conical. Suitable materials and welding temperatures are given. |
