PURPOSE: A booster for a machine tool spindle is provided, which can be conveniently installed in the horizontal or vertical direction on a machine tool regardless of the installation area. CONSTITUTION: A booster for a machine tool spindle comprises first and second air pistons(24,27), first and second piston rods(25,28), and air supply holes. The first and second air pistons are installed to be movable within first and second spaces(23,26) defined by partitions. The first piston rod compresses oil in a compression space(8a). The second piston rod is connected via a through-hole(21a) to one side of the first air piston. The air supply holes(29a,29b) are formed through the second air piston and the second rod and in a contact surface with the first air piston to deliver air pressure to the first air piston when the second air piston moves. The air supply hole(32) is connected to the first and second spaces and provides air to return the first and second piston. The air supply hole(34) delivers compressed air to the first and second air piston to compress the oil in the compression space with amplified force.
