PURPOSE: An organic electroluminescence device is provided to improve the durability of a device by preventing excitation energy from being diffused to an adjacent layer. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting layer(14) contains a light emitting material emanating phosphorescence. The phosphorescence is emanated by recombining an electron and a hole which are generated from an anode(11) and a cathode(17). A hole transport layer(13) and an electron transport layer(15) are formed between light emitting layers. A metal layer(20) generates a surface plasmon resonance according to the luminescent light from the light emitting layer. The work function of the metal layer is less than the work function of the hole transport layer.
