Cylinder head with two exhaust manifolds and method to operate an internal combustion engine with such a cylinder head

The cylinder head (1) is designed for four or more cylinders (2a, 2b) each with at least one exhaust gas outlet opening (3a, 3b). To each outlet opening (3a, 3b) an exhaust gas line (4a, 4b) is connected. The cylinders are in two groups (5a, 5b), each group including at least two cylinders (2a, 2b). The exhaust gas lines from each group form an exhaust gas manifold (7a, 7b) within the cylinder head, with each manifold leading to a combined exhaust gas line (6a, 6b). The novel feature in this arrangement is that the exhaust manifolds (7a, 7b) from the groups (5a, 5b) are connected together via a line (11) integrated into the cylinder head. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the method of operation.
