<p>A method and device for controlling the runnability of a fiber web machine, where a certain layer thickness is removed from the outer surface of the shell of the roll of a fiber web machine, such as a drying cylinder, and where the layer thickness removed from the shell of the roll is replaced with a composite material. The replaced layer thickness is selected considering the vibration-influencing properties of the removed material and of the replacing material so that the critical speed of a roll created by replacing the removed layer thickness with a composite material is suited to the desired running speed of the said roll.</p> |
