POLYESTER FIBER FOR AIRBAG AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A polyester yarn for an air bag and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to optimize an initial modulus and elongation, thereby manufacturing a fabric for an air bag with superior flexibility and folding features. CONSTITUTION: Elongation(160) of a polyester yarn for an air bag is larger than 0.5% in 1.0 g/d stress of a polyester yarn measured at a room temperature, elongation of the polyester yarn for an air bag is 4.3% in 4.0 g/d stress, and elongation of the polyester yarn for an air bag is larger than 7.5% in 7.0 g/d stress. An initial modulus of the polyester yarn is 40 to 100 g/d. The inherent viscosity of the polyester yarn is larger than 0.8 dl/g. A carboxyl end group content of the polyester yarn is smaller than 50 meq/kg.
