The disclosed method for fabricating low cost laryngeal mask devices includes provid-ing a mold, the mold (800) in-cluding interior walls (830) that define a hollow interior vol-ume (820). The interior vol-ume (820) includes a first por-tion and a second portion. A liquid plastic material is intro-duced into the mold (800), and then the mold (800) is moved so as to coat the mold's interior walls (830). The liquid plas-tic material is then allowed to cure. The cured plastic mate-rial is then removed from the mold (800) and the cured plas-tic material includes a generally elliptically shaped plate (440) and a cuff (460). The cuff (460) is formed from plastic material that coated the portion of the interior walls (830) that defined the first portion. The plate (440) defines a laryngeal side (448), a pharyngeal side (444), and a central aperture (442). An interior perimeter of the cuff (460) is attached to the laryngeal side (448) of the plate (440) proximal to a perimeter of the central aperture (442). An outer perimeter of the cuff (460) is attached to the laryngeal side (448) of the plate (440) proximal to an outer perimeter of the plate (440). |
