New process for the synthesis of 7,8-dimethoxy-1,3-dihydro-2h-3-benzazepin-2-one, and application in the synthesis of ivabradine and addition salts thereof with a pharmaceutically acceptable acid (benzazapine, benzazapinone)

Disclosed is a process for the synthesis of the compound of formula (I), 7,8-dimethoxy-1,3-dihydro-2H-3-benzazepin-2-one, which comprises starting with the compound (3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)acetic acid, the compound of formula (IV), converting it into the amide of formula (V), then, without isolating compound (V), subjecting it to a cyclisation reaction to obtain compound (I). Also disclosed is the use of the compound of formula (I) for the synthesis of ivabradine.
