A towelette dispenser comprises multiple individual towelettes with connections between the ends of individual towelettes, a container with an open end for holding the towelettes, a lid and a cover 25 at the open end of the container, an orifice in the lid through which towelettes are passed out of the container and one or more lobes 17 protruding into the orifice. The lid comprises two trapdoors 13 and door stop locks 23 that hold the trap doors 13 in a dispensing position. When a first towelette and the leading portion of a second towelette are pulled out of the container and the connections between the first towelette and the second towelette are separated, the leading portion of the second towelette will remain outside the lid as it is held within the orifice. This arrangement prevents the towelette falling back within the container.
