A chair such as an office chair has a base, a seat supported by the base, a tilt mechanism between the base and the seat, and a backrest connected to at least one of the seat or the tilt mechanism. The tilt mechanism includes a tilt spring and is connected to the seat so that the seat can move relative to the tilt mechanism and so that movement of the seat activates the tilt spring so that at least one of the seat and the backrest are tilted. A tilt limiter 105 includes a magnetic member 100 which facilitates full movement of the tilt limiter between free and locked positions in which tilting is respectively enabled or prevented, and which creates an audible indication of full movement of the tilt limiter.
