PURPOSE: An electric leakage breaker and a method for checking the function thereof are provided to remove power fail of a load device by checking the function of the electric leakage breaker in an operation state of the load device. CONSTITUTION: A leakage current detector(3) outputs a leakage current detection signal. A trip coil controller(4) outputs a control signal according to the leakage current detection signal. A trip coil(5) blocks power applied to the load according to the leakage current detection signal. A test button(6) confirms the operation state of the leakage current breaker. A function check switching unit selectively supplies the current to the leakage current detector. A supply current limiting unit supplies the small amount of currents to the trip coil controller. An operation state checking unit displays the function check status of the leakage current breaker.
