The device (10) has an ultrasonic sensor (12) for measuring a level of a product i.e. water (14), in an interval of 20 minutes. A level detector (18) i.e. overflow detector, detects exceedence of the product level above a threshold value. A communication unit communicates the detector with the sensor, so that detection of the product level above the threshold value activates the sensor to carry out measurements in another interval shorter than the former interval. The detector has two electrodes made of stainless steel. The latter interval ranges from 1 to 5 minutes.
