One of the objects of the present invention is an aqueous medium of an active substance or effect substance composition comprising the aqueous medium as a continuous phase and comprising A) at least one hyperbranched polymer comprising nitrogen atoms which is chosen from polyurethanes, polyureas, polyamides, polyesteramides, polyesteramines and blends thereof, wherein the polymer A) is chosen from molecularly and structurally nonuniform polymer and B) at least one active substance or effect substance dissolved or dispersed in the continuous phase and exhibiting a solubility in water at 25°C and 1013 mbar of less than 10 g/I. Other objects of the invention is a process for the preparation of said aqueous active substance or effect substance comprising cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions, and a composition for plant protection.
