PURPOSE: A retaining wall and a construction method thereof are provided to prevent the activity or the conduction of a retaining wall and to prevent interference with a surrounding construction structure. CONSTITUTION: A retaining wall comprises a wall body(10), a shelf(20), and a soil nail(30). The wall stands up on the side of a cut ground(1). The shelf is installed on the rear side of the wall and is buried under the ground. The soil nail connects the wall to the ground. The wall and the shelf are composed of a reinforcing bar concrete structure. The soil nails are installed on the lower wall based on the shelf.
