摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform light modulation element positioning with high accuracy so that the respective image light beams emitted from two light modulation element units are in the desired pixel shifting state. <P>SOLUTION: In a first light modulation element unit 400, for the respective pixels of a light modulation element for a certain color light beam among first to third color lights, positioning is performed so that the respective pixels of two light modulation elements for the two other color lights are put in a predetermined pixel shifting state. In a second light modulation element unit 600, for the respective pixels of the two light modulation elements for the two color lights, positioning is performed so that the respective pixels of the light modulation element for the one color light are put in a predetermined pixel shifting state.
