PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose ester film not producing insoluble matter of cellulose ester by a simple method, reduced in flaw and trouble and especially reduced in the foreign matter trouble caused by the flocculation of fine particles, and the cellulose ester film, a method for manufacturing the same, an optical film, a polarizing plate and a display device reduced in the irregularity of retardation values Ro and Rt in stretching of the cellulose ester film and excellent in winding shape when taking-up of a wide thin film. SOLUTION: The cellulose ester film, the method for manufacturing the same, the optical film, the polarizing plate and the display device are characterized in that the cellulose ester and a crushed material obtained by crushing a material mainly consisting of the cellulose ester are charged in an organic solvent after being wetted while mixing and stirring with the solvent respectively by an inline mixer, and the cellulose ester obtained by dissolution is used to manufacture the cellulose ester film by a solution casting method.
