PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise safety when treatment or the like of body tissue is performed by inserting an instrument in the body.

SOLUTION: Volume data is acquired by a probe 22. A sphere is defined so as to surround the tip part of an endoscope 26 and its surface is used as a vicinity surface 66. Presence/absence of tissue data on the vicinity surface 66 is determined based on the volume data. When the tissue data exist, navigation information (an alarm) expressing proximity to the tissue is outputted. A plurality of vicinity surfaces can also be set on the basis of the tip of the endoscope and in that case, information expressing degree of proximity to the tissue can be provided.
