PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the angle of inclination of an image from properties of the input image itself through Hough transformation, and to perform precise Hough transformation at a high speed. SOLUTION: A Hough transformed value is found with predetermined angle resolution within a predetermined angle range, and a vote for a first vote table is cast. A Hough transformed value is found with a higher angle resolution within an angle range narrower than that of a first Hough transformation means, and a vote for a second vote table is cast. Based on the data of the first vote table and data of the second vote table, angles of inclination of respective images are found, and matching between the two found angles of inclination is checked.
