PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus capable of washing a roll and a liquid pan inside the liquid pan serving for both of coating liquid and washing liquid without detaching the roll and without exchanging a coating liquid pan. SOLUTION: When washing, the washing liquid 4a filled inside the liquid pan 2 is circulated by a liquid supply means, and a rotated gravure roll 5 and the liquid pan 2 are washed with the washing liquid 4a to which ultrasonic vibrations are given by ultrasonic vibrators 3a and 3b provided in the liquid pan 2. Further, the ultrasonic vibrations are given by an ultrasonic vibrator built in a washing brush 7 to the washing liquid 4a supplied from the liquid supply means through the washing brush 7 exchangeable with a doctor to the gravure roll 5, and the gravure roll 5 is washed with the washing liquid and the washing brush 7.
