Provided is a fatty acid alkyl ester sulfonate metal salt mixture comprising: (a) a fatty acid alkyl ester sulfonate metal salt for which the heat-absorption peak area between 50°C and 130°C is less than 50% of the total absorption peak area between 0°C and 130°C, as measured by a differential scanning thermal analyzer; and (b) a fatty acid alkyl ester sulfonate metal salt for which the heat-absorption peak area between 50°C and 130°C is at least 50% of the total absorption peak area between 0°C and 130°C, as measured by a differential scanning thermal analyzer. The mass ratio of (a) to (b) is at most 95:5. This mixture has excellent caking resistance.
