<p>The invention relates to an electric machine (10) in a performance range of several MVA, particularly an asynchronous or synchronous machine, wherein said electric machine (10) comprises a rotor (19) rotating about an axis (18) with a rotor sheet metal body (12) which is concentrically enclosed by a stator sheet metal body (14) of a stator and is separated thereof by an annular air gap (21). In order to ensure a flawless operation, means (23), which extend through said air gap in the axial direction, are provided for monitoring the air gap (21) and by means of which a change of the geometry of the rotor and/or the penetration of foreign bodies into the air gap (21) can be detected.</p> |
