PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cross section of a load absorption member before inflation and to efficiently absorb collision load input to the load absorption member. SOLUTION: In the load absorption structure 10, a thick plate part 18 is pressed to one side in an axial direction by an injection pressure of a gas from an inflator 20 and a thin plate part 16 is extended/deformed at the moment when the collision load is input from one side in an axial direction to the load absorption member 14. The load absorption member 14 is thereby inflated to one side in an axial direction momentally. When the collision load is input from one side in the axial direction to the load absorption member 14, the thick plate part 18 is pressed to the other side in the axial direction by the collision load and the thin plate part 16 is crushed/deformed. Thereby, the load absorption member 14 is crushed/deformed to the other side in the axial direction and the collision load is absorbed. Thus, the cross section of the load absorption member 14 before inflation is reduced and the collision load input to the load absorption member 14 is efficiently absorbed.
