PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position adjustment apparatus which highly precisely and simply adjusts the position of an image display element. SOLUTION: A substrate 105, digital micromirror devices (DMD) 11 and a package 101 are fastened together to a reference member 104 by screws 108, and a ball-shaped component 110 exists between the reflection face of DMD 11 and the reference member 104. The ball-shaped component 110 supports the pressurizing force by the fastening against the reference member 104 to decide the position in the normal line direction of the reflection face of the DMD 11 and allows a movement of the DMD 11 in the face direction perpendicular to the normal line direction. Piezoelectric elements 103 displaces the DMD in the face direction resisting against the energizing force of elastic pieces 102, thus the position of the DMD 11 is accurately and simply adjusted.
