摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single crystal diamond cutting tool which can well discharge chips and can reduce cutting resistance and improves the accuracy of a machined surface and does not easily generate wear and micro-chipping of a cutting edge and has longer lifetime, when performing ultra-precision cutting of a crystal material and a hard and brittle material. SOLUTION: A chip having a R-shaped cutting edge ridge is prepared at a pointed head of a diamond cutting tool, a section acted as at least a cutting edge among the cutting edge ridges is formed into a fixed R-shape in such a way that a first conical surface as a rake face and a second conical surface as a flank are crossed each other. The roundness of the cutting edge ridge is less than 100 nm in radius, the width of the first conical surface is 1-5μm, and a chip relieving face in a direction approximately perpendicular to the cutting direction is arranged at a section opposite to the cutting edge ridge line of the first conical face. An intersection section between the first conical surface and the second conical surface is set up to be a R-shaped face, and its radius is set up to be 0.1-1.0μm.
