PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine which prevents a decrease of washing/rinsing performance caused by clogging of a foreign-body catching filter and decrease of circulating water amount in a washing water circulating stage. SOLUTION: The washing machine includes a circulating pump 107 and a pump motor 109 which return wash water in a water receiver tank 23 from the bottom of the water tank to the upper part of a rotary drum 21, a foreign-body catching filter 103 composed between the water receiver tank 23 and the circulating pump 107 and a controller 40 equipped with a current sensing means 12 which detects current of the pump motor 109. The controller 40 controls a washing water circulating stage time T1 and controls for making reverse rotation of the pump motor 109 after a pump motor 109 operation of the circulating pump 107; then, it can prevent a decrease of washing/rinsing performance caused by clogging of the foreign-body catching filter.
