PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire complementing the problem that wet skid properties and control stability of the tire are reduced, when a high aromatic oil in which a polycyclic aromatic compound (PCA) component is controlled in <3 wt.% is used instead of a conventional high aromatic oil as a softening agent, and having excellent loss characteristics and rigidity, and to provide the tire using the rubber composition and having excellent dry road surface control stability and wet road surface braking properties. SOLUTION: The composition is formed by compounding (A) 0.1 to 45 pts.mass resin containing an aromatic component having 30 to 80 mass% indene as a monomer ratio and (B) 1 to 150 pts.mass softening agent containing a polycyclic aromatic compound (PCA) having <3% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) extraction amount by an IP 346 method per 100 pts.mass of at least one rubber component selected from diene polymers.
