An all wheel drive motorcycle (10) includes an internal combustion engine (18) having an output shaft (20) extending from the engine (18). A back wheel drive train (22) is coupled to the output shaft (20) with either a first chain (28) or a first shaft. The first chain (28) or the first shaft couples to a rear wheel drive sprocket (30) or a rear wheel drive gear that couples to the first chain (28) or first shaft, respectively. The motorcycle (10) includes a front wheel drive train (24) that extends from the output shaft (20) to a universal joint (46) that is positioned on the motorcycle (10) within a range of about five degree from an axis of rotation (50) of the front fork (42) where the front fork (42) supports and retains the front wheel (16). The universal joint (42) and the output shaft (20) are coupled together with either a second drive chain (34) or a second drive shaft. The universal joint (46) includes a stub shaft (56) having a front wheel drive sprocket (54) engages a front wheel drive chain (52) where the front wheel drive chain (52) also engages a front axle sprocket (58) that supplies a drive force to the front wheel (16). |
