A method of imaging organic microobjects in a fluid (22) comprises: -containing the fluid in a microscope slide or cartridge (10); -determining a region of interest (44) of the slide or cartridge, on the basis of quality values associated with elementary regions of the slide or cartridge; -scanning the region of interest relative to an imaging device (36). Determining the region of interest and scanning the region of interest may be interlaced. A scanning path may be determined on the fly. A system or apparatus (8) for imaging organic microobjects in a fluid (22) is also disclosed.
