According to the invention, an arrayed waveguide grating interconnects wavelength channels between an optical fiber trunk of wavelength division multiplexed passive optical networks (WDM-PON) and multiple branch fibers of the WDM-PON, in a WDM-PON including a system for distributing an uplink signal, a downlink signal, and RF/video broadcast signals. The WDM-PON realizes a channel scheme containing a predetermined free spectrum width and at least three spectrum segments. Each segment has a width identical to the free spectrum width. The WDM-PON has an optical terminal which receives a wavelength division multiplexed uplink signal in a first segment from among the spectrum segments, and receives a wavelength division multiplexed downlink signal in a second segment from among the spectrum segments. The channel schemes are identical in both the first segment and the second segment. An RF/video transmitter generates an RF/video signal in a third segment from among the spectrum segments. |
