<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device which includes an imaging apparatus mounted in a vehicle and detects an object around the vehicle from a captured image captured by the imaging apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes a flood-light means for projecting light around a vehicle. The flood-light means is configured to project light of a wavelength for which a sensitivity of an imaging element of an imaging apparatus is lower than a predetermined value. Furthermore, the device includes a wavelength converting film for converting the light of the wavelength, for which the sensitivity of the imaging element of the imaging apparatus is lower than the predetermined value, into light of a wavelength for which the sensitivity of the imaging element is higher than the predetermined value. The imaging apparatus produces a captured image by receiving the light, which is converted by the wavelength converting film, using the imaging element. The light of the wavelength for which the sensitivity of the imaging element is low is projected and converted into the light of the wavelength for which the sensitivity is high, thereby preventing dazzling or halation of a walker around the vehicle, and maintaining detection accuracy of an object without increasing costs. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
