PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that, in case a heat puffer chamber is positioned rearward between electrodes, it is necessary to carry out taking-in or blowing of heat gas if needed through a long axis-direction channel or a meandering long channel, so that an enough amount of taking-in or blowing can not be obtained due to high flow-channel resistance, and, in case the heat puffer is positioned sideways between the electrodes, flow of heat gas is hindered by a movable electrode since an exhaust port of the heat gas is in a direction of the electrode axis, so that enough exhaustion force can not be obtained. SOLUTION: The puffer type breaker is provided with a fixed-side electrode as well as a movable side electrode arranged on the same axis line in free contact and separation, an opening part opened toward a space part formed between both electrodes at opening of the same, a first heat puffer chamber for raising pressure of arc-extinguishing gas, and an insulator nozzle blowing the arc-extinguishing gas from the first heat puffer chamber to an arc. It is also provided with an exhaust port at the space part except the opening part of the first puffer chamber for exhausting the arc-extinguishing gas after being blown to the arc in a direction crossing the axis line.
