PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display preventing image quality degradation. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with: a liquid crystal display panel 8; a backlight light source 7 of the liquid crystal display panel 8; a frame rate conversion part 3 for outputting second video signals in which the frame rate of successively input first video signals is multiplied by n (n is an integer≥2) to the liquid crystal display panel 8 repeatedly by n times each; and a backlight duty and phase control part 5 which is a backlight control part for controlling the timing of lighting and putting out the backlight light source 7. The backlight duty and phase control part 5 turns off the backlight light source 7 at first timing corresponding to the second video signal of the first time, and lights the backlight light source 7 at second timing corresponding to the second video signals of the second time and thereafter.
