PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus which attains starting of a selective function matching a mode of use by a user, at the start of a power source of an apparatus body, or when returning from energy-saving mode. SOLUTION: By a simple procedure of merely reading setting information, regarding a power source supplying pattern matching the mode of use by the user from the noncontact IC card into which the setting information is stored, an energy-saving control section 77 makes the image forming apparatus perform energy-saving operation, in which a power source section 71 shuts off the supply of power source to a prescribed function section, or the supplied voltage is reduced, according to the setting information regarding one power source supplying pattern that is read from the noncontact IC card, at the start of the power source of the apparatus body, or when returning from the energy-saving mode.
