PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a defect by a user will cause trouble at high risk in use of an electronic file, much labor and cost are required for the recovery, and a user personally has responsibility to avoid them, producing a burden in use of an information system. SOLUTION: There are provided a category setting means, a means for setting information to match a title set for each category, a means enabling arbitrarily setting and ranking of a category of the set title, a keyword setting means, a means for setting information to match a set keyword, and a means enabling arbitrary selection and ranking of the set keyword. With selected category information, selected keyword information, and a means for automatically generating and assigning a character string in a random manner, these pieces of information are stored as a file name. In file retrieval, not mere character string retrieval, but retrieval is enabled which uses a combination of phrases with a preparer's intention regarded therefor by a combination of the title of the category and the keyword.
