PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which improves image quality by preventing influence of trouble of a paper medium such as breakage without increasing time required for a correction process of a read image nor increasing memory capacity. SOLUTION: The image reader includes: a first housing part for housing paper media; a reading part for optically reading a paper medium fed to a transport path from the first housing part; and a second housing part for housing the paper media ejected from the transport path. The image reader further includes: a double-side reading passage for guiding the paper medium from the first housing part to the reading part to read a first surface of the paper medium, and thereafter guiding the paper medium to a re-reading part through an inverting passage for inverting the paper medium to read a second surface thereof; a correction region determination part for determining a correction region on the second surface based on image data read from the first surface of the paper medium; and a corrected image generation part for adjusting a pixel value in the correction region for the image data read from the second surface of the paper medium to generate a corrected image.
