PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and devices for sealing a working channel of a surgical access device using a non-resealable membrane. SOLUTION: The non-resealable membrane 20 seals the working channel 16 of the access device 10 before use and is punctured when a surgical instrument is inserted into the access device 10 such that it will no longer provide a seal 18 in the working channel 16.
