PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device more appropriately regulating valve timing at prescribed phase at the time of stop of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An electronic control device 50 controls a valve timing change over mechanism 20 to set valve timing to intermediate phase and control a rock mechanism 30 to insert a lock pin into a lock hole when it is detected that an ignition switch 60 is set to an off position. The electronic control device 50 stops the internal combustion engine 10 under a condition where it is continuously determined that the valve timing is set to intermediate phase in a prescribed period after start of control of the lock mechanism 30.
