The invention relates to the construction and reconstruction of buildings and structures and is an accessory for the facing of walls with protective and decorative cladding panels. The invention makes it possible to produce a cleat bearing element which ensures a high degree of operational reliability and rapid installation and removal of the cleat. The cleat is formed from a metal strip. The cleat consists of a base (1) and a tab (2) with a bent-up end (3). The base (1) of the cleat is in the form of an elongation of the tab. The base (1) and tab (2) are identical in width. The base (1) is provided with an opening (4) for receiving a fixing and adjustment element (5). For use in a high construction, the base (1) has to be bracket-shaped and has to contain an upper ledge (6) and lower ledge (7) with coaxial openings (4) for receiving the fixing and adjustment element (5). The cleat according to the second embodiment is made of wire, in the form of a base (11) and tab (12) with a bent-up end (13). The base (11) is in the form of two bracket-shaped elements (14, 15) and the tab (12) locks the elements (14, 15) of the base to each other.
