<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of protecting elements connected in parallel to LEDs. <P>SOLUTION: This lighting system 1 includes a plurality of LEDs 101, 102 connected in series to each other, and constant voltage diodes 103, 104 as the plurality of protecting elements connected in parallel to the plurality of LEDs 101, 102 with their polarity reverse to that of the LEDs 101, 102.
