<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection optical system which enables to reduce a height of a lower part of an image display apparatus and the image display apparatus in which the height of the lower part is small. <P>SOLUTION: The image display apparatus includes a screen 15 and the projection optical system 10.
