PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding device that improves workability for attaching transparent documents of various sizes. SOLUTION: A film holder 50 includes a film holding portion 530 and a sheet holding portion 550. The sheet holding portion 550 has: a recessed flat surface 552, receded with respect to a reference flat surface; an extended recessed surface 554, formed by extending the recessed flat surface 552 substantially along a sheet slide direction D2; a pressing portion 556 for pressing an auxiliary sheet 90 in a position apart from the boundary 5542 of the expanded recessed flat surface 554 by a distance substantially equal to the length of the auxiliary sheet 90; and a first opening 558 extending to the recessed flat surface 552, via the extended recessed flat surface 554, from the reference flat surface 510 substantially along the sheet slide direction D2.
