PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas scrubber capable of reducing an SO<SB>2</SB>content in exhaust gas without deteriorating fuel consumption. SOLUTION: In this large-sized two-cycle diesel engine 1 with the exhaust gas scrubber, water with high salinity is fed into the exhaust gas scrubber by a pump to generate steam, and exhaust gas passes therethrough to reduce the SO<SB>2</SB>content. The engine has a seawater operation type scavenging/humidifying unit 12 or a freshwater generator changing seawater into fresh water. The waste water with the high salinity of the scavenging/humidifying unit or the fresh water generator is used in the exhaust gas scrubber. The high salinity of the waste water enhances the efficiency of the scrubber compared with the case that normal seawater is used.
