A plasmon sensor is provided with a first metal layer, and a second metal layer having the top surface facing the under surface of the first metal layer. Electromagnetic waves are supplied to the top surface of the first metal layer. A hollow area configured in such a manner as to be filled with a sample containing media is provided between the first and second metal layers. The plasmon sensor has a compact and simple structure.
