<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device which continuously operates for a long period of time by reducing power consumption as much as possible, and does not cause the operation fault of other electronic equipment. <P>SOLUTION: The electro-optical device 1 includes: an electrophoretic display device 12 for changing the optical state of a plurality of pixels according to an image to be displayed and displaying the image; an optical sensor 17 for detecting light on the display surface side of the electrophoretic display device 12 where the image is displayed; and a CPU 21 for referring to the detection result of the light sensor 17, and when a state in which brightness on the display surface side of the electrophoretic display device 12 becomes prescribed brightness or below continues for the prescribed time or longer, performing the control of changing the display of the electrophoretic display device 12 (for instance, the control of erasing the display of the image displayed at the electrophoretic display device 12 or the control of changing to the display of another image). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
